Discover Sioux City history in a whole new way! The new Sioux City Public Museum features large, colorful exhibits, interactive displays, and much more. It’s a must-see destination for residents and tourists alike.
LEWIS AND CLARK INTERPRETIVE CENTER
Visitors can sign on as a member of the Corps of Discovery and experience a day soldiering and serving with Lewis & Clark in this new interactive Missouri Riverfront attraction. Admission is free. The center focuses on a day in the life of the explorers as they traveled through what is now the Sioux City, Nebraska Iowa area.
SIOUX CITY ART CENTER
The Center's collection includes works by Thomas Hart Benton, Dale Chihuly, John Stuart Curry, Salvador Dali, John Henry (artist), Jun Kaneko, Kathe Kollwitz, Robert Motherwell, Charles Logasa, Claes Oldenburg, Ed Paschke, Philip Pearlstein, Bridget Riley, Jerry Uelsmann, James McNeil Whistler, and Grant Wood.
FOURTH STREET HISTORIC DISTRICT
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Fourth Street Historic District contains the best concentration of late 19th Century commercial buildings in Sioux City. Here you can stroll along the tree-lined sidewalks and sample from a variety of dining and specialty shops. Whether you are sipping on a fresh brewed cup of coffee, getting a whole new look at the spa, picking out a special accessory for your home, or stopping in at the local pub, you will find Historic 4th Street has something for everyone.
LEWIS & CLARK TRAIL/SGT. FLOYD MONUMENT
This travel itinerary highlights 41 historic places listed in the National Register of Historic Places and associated with Lewis and Clark. Many of these places are also part of the National Park Service's Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. The Sergeant Floyd Monument commemorates Sergeant Charles Floyd, Jr., the only member of the Corps of Discovery to die on the journey.
ANDERSON DANCE PAVILION – FLIGHT 232 MEMORIAL
Larsen Park Rd. on the riverfront. Reservations Call 712-279-6111. The Pavilion has a covered dance floor and raised bank area. The site of many summer events including Artsplash and The Big Parade. Enjoyed year-round, it is part of the extensive trail system running throughout the city. The Flight 232 Memorial commemorates the heroic rescue efforts shown by the Sioux City community after the crash of United Flight 232 in 1989. This statue depicts Colonel Dennis Nielsen carrying a young child to safety.
QUEEN OF PEACE STATUE – LAST SUPPER SHRINE
Part of the development of Trinity Heights, located on a wooded 70 acres, in the northeast corner of Sioux City, Iowa. People of all faiths come to visit this peaceful area.
